Um, it's not nice to "inform" people that they should be doing things your way. If he's happy with Vanilla, and it's doing what he needs, why should he change?
You should think about what it would be like if someone else came along and told you to use a PC because it does what they want to do better than a Mac. It doesn't matter to you what they're using a PC for, and for him, he probably doensn't care what forum software you're using.
At the least, you could offer reasons for why it would be benificial for him to switch forum software, instead of a blanket "this one is better than the one you have."
Besides, after three K2 forums, I think we can all agree that switching forums isn't something to be taken lightly. It's not like posts can be imported from the old forums, and by switching, they would loose all the discussions currently on the forum.

First I gave him a good reason, His forums don't look like his site.
Second his forums has no customizations and no posts, so he doesn't have to worry about importing.

No offense, but that's really not a good reason. I'm sure he spent plenty of time trying to decide which forum software to use. Perhaps he doesn't want it to look like the rest of the site. Perhaps he's working on skinning it to fit his site.
My point was that you came across as trying to direct him to choose a piece of code that you like, by saying "Use this just like me". I'm sure that's not what was intended, but that's how it came across.
