I'd like to implement the ELA archive system and Bunny's Technocrati Tags in my K2 weblog together. The idea is that, instead of using categories (or "taxonomy" in ELA parlance), I'd like the Archive page to show posts by date and by tags.
I'm not the first to do this, right? Is there a tidy solution?

Use Ultimate Tag Warrior instead of Bunny's Technorati Tags, and you're off to a good start, as ELA supports UTW.

OK. I'll try it.
(BTW, the K2 (http://binarybonsai.com/wordpress/k2/features-and-plugins/) page at BB list BTT, not UTW.)

Success! Except...
...now, the ELA page gives me the choice of CHRONOLOGY and TAXONOMY with a tag cloud beneath. What I'd like to do is remove the categories from the ELA page entirely.
Is that a big deal? When I tried to simply de-select all of the categories in the ELA options page, it yelled at me.

Remove the link text from the config page...

Remove the link text from the config page...
That did it. :)
But I'm still getting some sort of database weirdness... I can't add tags to posts. No errors... they just don't get entered.

What I'm wondering is when you use UTW, all the posts seem to have tags in the post text. How can I fix that?

In the UTW Options, you can set where the Tags appear: before the post text (but after the title, so it looks like it's "in" the post) or after the post text.

i'm having a litle problem tag links just go to a 404 page...
i tried with and without the url rewriting (index.php?tag=something and /tag/something) but no luck...
any ideas?
edit:
actually, tags are semi-working... but with a serious bug.
certain posts don't show up for a tag, even though i am sure everything in the database is "linked" properly.
the tag lists work great everywhere, even in the extended archives...
for a demonstration, check this post (http://jcinacio.dyndns.org/2006/02/26/hello-world/) and click the 'blog' tag.

fixed, i had a keywords plugin that was conflicting, everything is working as it should now.
also, i manually added the url rewrite code to .htaccess so it's a beauty now
now what should i do with the categories?...
